Inside Cubola: St John’s College High School
Inside Cubola is a new monthly programme by Cubola Productions that invites students into the heart of Belize’s publishing world. Through guided tours and interactive sessions, students gain firsthand insight into the creative and technical processes behind producing Belizean books, and explore how publishing supports national culture, identity, and storytelling.
In this visit, Cubola welcomed students from St John’s College High School in Belize City. As part of their educational trip to Benque Viejo del Carmen, the students also visited Stonetree Records, where they learnt about Belize’s vibrant music industry. The experience gave them a deeper appreciation of how locally produced books and music help preserve Belizean heritage and inspire future generations.

FILEY 2025 Book Fair
The Feria Internacional de la Lectura Yucatán (FILEY) 2025 will take place from March 22 to 30 at the Centro de Convenciones Yucatán Siglo XXI in Mérida, featuring a wide range of cultural and literary activities. This free event aims to promote reading and the arts through book presentations, workshops, performances, and exhibitions, attracting renowned authors and artists. The Belize Book Industry Association (BBIA) will be attending with a stand showcasing Belizean literary works.

Drawing & Writing Workshop
The Drawing & Writing Workshop for Standard 5 & 6 students of Hummingbird Elementary School in Belize City encouraged creativity through character design and storytelling. Students created their own characters to fit into The Land of the Night Sun, wrote a scene with them, and participated in the Character Hot Seat activity. They also examined each other’s drawings, guessing details about their classmates' characters. To end the workshop, author Ian Gibson shared his own character design and read a short scene featuring his creation.
