Zoila Ellis

Zoila Ellis Browne, born in Belize , is a Garifuna Woman committed to contributing to the development of her Indigenous Heritage. She holds a Law Degree from the University of the West Indies as well as a Masters Degree in Development Studies from the Institute of Development Studies at the University of Sussex (UK). She has worked with OXFAM (UK) as its Deputy Regional Representative in the Eastern Caribbean and has served as consultant on issues related to Law, Women and development, and Environmental Law in Belize and the wider Caribbean. As part of her commitment to St. Vincent and the Grenadines, also known as Yurumein, which is considered as the ancestral homeland of all Garinagu, she volunteers as Technical Programme Consultant to the Garifuna Heritage Foundation (TGHF) , a Vincentian non- Governmental organization promoting the Garifuna Heritage and Culture. She currently serves as a Magistrate in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.​
